Director of Training - Stuart Lockton

Stuart is an outdoor enthusiast who is lucky enough to spend his work and leisure time substantially in the outdoors. Stuart has been a canoe instructor since 1997, with vast experience of leading canoe expeditions in remote areas, and is also an instructor in mountain walking and climbing. He is an approved instructor for RLSS National Water Safety Management Programme.

Stuart has been delivering training in outdoor safety and risk management for over 10 years. He has delivered training in environmental activities and bushcraft across the country for many years, and is a highly experienced facilitator with extensive knowledge of the theory and practice of facilitation in the outdoors

Vicki Boggon

Vicki is an outdoor educator and trained teacher. She has worked as a teacher and headteacher, as an educational consultant and as a Forest Schools trainer.

Vicki is inspired by teaching and training and has a long track record of inspiring and motivating educators to reflect on their practice and develop the best possible learning outcomes for the children and young people they work with. Vicki trains in a wide variety of outdoor and creative learning methodologies including Forest Schools, P4C and "I Matter".

I am an enthusiastic, cheerful person with a passion for early years education. I find that I am able to inspire and motivate groups of practitioners to reflect on their practice and change in order to provide the very best provision for the children they work with. I like to make a difference and enjoy working with people of all ages from 0 – 100! I have a wide experience of working in different sectors of education and have led different teams in a variety of settings – schools as well as private, voluntary and independent settings.

David Fisher

David  works full time as a Mountain Instructor, holding the highest UK qualification through Mountain Training - the Mountain Instructor Certificate, along with being a member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.

Based in the Lake District, a keen summer, winter and alpine climber, mountain biker, along with a bit of skiing, and enjoy taking the odd photo when the opportunity arises. He’s passionate about taking people out into the mountains, whether it be to develop their skills and confidence, or take them on their next adventure.

David feels lucky to have had the opportunity to both work and play in areas across the UK, Europe, Norway and New Zealand, along with leading high altitude treks and mountaineering expeditions in Tanzania, Russia, Morocco, Nepal, and Kyrgyzstan.

Dave Kohn-Hollins                                      

Dave has lived and paddled all over the UK. He started paddling when he was at school and began coaching whilst at University. He has worked coaching and guiding all over the UK, Europe and in Chile. Starting from his first paddling trip abroad in Spain, he developed a passion for travel and exploration. His travels have so far taken in all of the great European white water destinations as well as trips to Chile, Argentina, New Zealand and Indonesia, and expeditions to Colombia and Tajikistan. When not working or off on expedition, Dave also competes in white water extreme races as part of Team Pyranha.

Richard Simpson

Richard is an independent outdoor education adviser and has worked in this role as the county adviser for Cumbria and for the MoD in Germany, Cyprus and around the world.

Richard has a wide ranging experience in the outdoors, both as an activist and as a trainer and adviser. Amongst other things this has included many days on Scottish hills and Lake District fells in summer and winter and the odd foray to the Alps, sea kayaking and river paddling across Britain and Europe, competing successfully in fell races at all levels for many years and as the team sea kayaker in the Hebridean Challenge multi-day adventure race.

Sue Simpson

Susan developed her career as a professional in the outdoors whilst working as a Science teacher, running a Duke of Edinburgh Award unit and a school canoe club. More recently she has been pleased to be able to shift her teaching skills permanently to the outdoor classroom.

Susan qualified as a kayak coach in 1982 and has since developed her skills and qualifications in canoe and sea kayak. A former member of the England slalom team she leads on white water and provides safety and rescue training. Susan is a technical advisor for canoeing at a local centre.

Susan was brought up walking in the Peak District and is a Mountain Leader who also enjoys running, scrambling and skiing in mountain terrain. She has a high level of environmental awareness and knowledge of plant use and uses this in her coaching particularly with bushcraft sessions and in her own gardening.
